turns out i make a pretty cute sister missionary... do i just do it?

i took over 400 pictures.our adventure backpacking through italy turned out almost perfectly, aside from the first night being the absolute worst night of my life. our story begins in the airport. we were flying into rome last friday and so excited, practically bouncing up and down in our seats, finally get off the plane just in time to catch the last train to nomentana (where the mission home was that we were staying) and go to pay for our tickets when alex realizes her wallet is gone. her passport, all her money and IDs and credit cards in it. she must have left it on the plane so frantically we run back through security to the Air One (NO) help desk where the girl at the desk tells her they dont have it and the plane was probably already checked so there is nothing she can do. totally unhelpful, didnt even call anyone to ask. then we realized we missed the last train of the night to nomentana and we would officially be sleeping in the dingy dirty loud baggage claim because we cant get back into the terminal area. THEN the girl at the air one desk changes shifts so we pressure her to help us until she tells alex to come back at 5am and she will send someone out to check the plane for it. we sprawl across some hard metal seats in the FREEZING cold, really sketchy, dirty baggage claim area like 2 little hobos, alex is about to cry and i feel so tired i want to puke. at 4am i am shivering and so far from sleep that i give up and go hang out in the bathroom for warmth...i took a second to laugh at myself because it was really a low point in my life, hovering around in the airport bathroom because i have nothing else to do. finally 5am rolls around, alex goes to front desk, girl tells her to come back about every half hour until finally at around 7am the girl disappears and a new girl is at the desk, totally clueless and uninformed of the situation. so pretty much this new girl tells us to get lost and we waited in the airport all night for no reason. thank-goodness for the mission president's wife, who when we got to the mission home gave us hot showers, a delicious breakfast, and helped alex cancel her credit cards and get a new temporary passport. i think its just barely starting to be funny, where we can look back on the situation and realize it makes for a heck of a story.
anyway the rest of italy was perfect. maybe the best week of my life. i am in love with italy and want to go back as soon as possible. meanwhile, it is my last full week here in europe. the time has flown, but you know what, i am soooo ready for home. i am SO excited for friends and family and my boyfriend and delicious american food that doesn't cost me a jillion dollars and walmart and my car and the english language. YAY!!!! i'm coming home!!!!!!
